Golden is often called the “heart of six national parks” because of its proximity to Banff, Yoho, Jasper, Kootenay, Glacier, and Mount Revelstoke National Parks. The town is located on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) and is on the northern end of Highway 95. The town has a population of just under 4,000 people. Golden is located on the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Nation.
